Alice Kane pushed through the glass doors that lead into the Texas University's Computer Science lab. She had only 30 minutes before her job interview with the head of the department, Dr. T. Steers, was to begin. She had been laid off from her previous job just two weeks ago and had been referred for the Executive Secretary position with Dr. Steers by a friend. Alice really needed the job and quickly made sure the navy pantsuit she was wearing was free of lint and wrinkles.

Taking an elevator to the fourth floor, she exited and immediately found herself in a sterile hallway. Glass doors lined either side of the hallway and behind them Alice could see numerous humming computers with bleeping screens.. Counting, she made her way to the third door on the right, the one that should have been Dr. Steer's office. Instead, the sign outside stated it was the Virtual Reality Laboratory.

Unsure of what to do, Alice tried to open the door, but it was locked tight. Knowing that if she was late to this appointment with Dr. Steers then she could possible lose a good job opportunity, Alice decided to walk further down the hall and see if she could actually find a human being that could direct her to the correct office. Further down the hallway she found an open door and could hear someone tapping at a computer keyboard somewhere in the room.

"Hello," she ventured in a small voice as she stepped inside the doorway. The tapping continued. "Hello," she said again in a slight louder voice. This time the tapping stopped and a man wearing a white lab coat turned around from the computer he was working at, startling Alice.

Alice was immediately drawn to the man's eyes. They were a mysterious shade of green and blue with a shade of grey hiding in their depths. Eyes that flashed intelligence and a hint of mischief, eyes that could hold you in their stare. "May I help you?" the stranger asked Alice in a deep and sensuous voice. Shaking herself, Alice concentrated on the man's face. He was a young man, in his mid-30's, Alice determined. She could see the ripple of muscles beneath his lab coat and surveyed that his red hair was cut into a military crew cut. "I'm trying to find the office of Dr. Steers," Alice responded. "My name is Alice Kane and I'm here to interview for a job."

The man suddenly perked up and stuck out his hand for Alice to shake. "Well nice to meet you Alice, I'm Dr. Ty Perkins, one of Dr. Steers professors in the department." Embarrassed, Alice attempted to pull her hand away from Ty's, but he held it for just a second longer then was necessary.
